Modern School: Xylophone, Marimba, Vibraphone (Morris Goldenberg Classics)

My daughter's percussion instructor requested she buy this. We had purchased her a wooden marimba as she prefers mallet percussion to any other. Her instructor is in professional level orchestras and is training her in techniques she will use in the youth orchestra she is in.

I had to play these etudes as a Percussion Major at Crane School of Music in 1980 and '81 ! I didn't nail them all, butthey were GREAT for my chops. This is a classic mallets book for good reason! It has exercises in every key, starts slowly and logically, and has short melodies to make learning the keys fun! It goes through the gamut of two mallet playing from beginner to advanced excerpts. I would highly recommend it!

I really like the sequential order of the exercises in this book. It is great for teaching yourself. One thing that I wish was included is more written information on sticking and mallets. I do appreciate that R L is often marked on the music.
