These are nice because it gives you some more song options
I played piano throughout grade school and have recently decided to take it up again after more than 15 years of not playing. I bought this along with the Basic Adult Piano Course books. These are nice because it gives you some more song options. It's easy to get kind of tired of the songs in the course books. This book coordinates with the course books, so you play through this book as you are working through the basic book. Some of the songs in the main books are a little too easy. These had a few challenging pieces that help you apply what you are learning in the course books.I would say these books are for beginners or those trying to pick it back up. If you are an experienced pianist, I probably would not recommend it, as you could probably find more challenging and better sounding arrangements for the pieces offered here. But again, if you are a beginner/intermediate player, these are great.

I really love this book
I really love this book. I play for several hours a week at a nursing home, and i need alot of relatively simple music to sight read, because i don't have time to practice and hone alot of really complex stuff to repertoire level playing. I am called "advanced" but read comfortably at about a middle intermediate level, with a preference for arpeggios. The arrangements in this book are fabulous! Since i am over 50, but i knew most of the songs. I really love Beauty and the Beast, Think of Me, Yesterday, The Way We Were, and God Bless the Outcasts...I also love the one from Jekyll & Hyde, but i am pretty sure the people listening don't have a clue what that one is....still it sounds good. I highly recommend this book!

Fun Selection of Hits Mostly From Broadway And The Movies
This book is designed to supplement Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level 2 but can be enjoyed by anyone one has mastered about level two of any piano teaching series. The pieces are graded and placed in the book from easiest to most difficult and a note is included as to what page number in Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course the student should have completed before being "ready" for the given selection. I found that the "greatest hits" songs tend to be a bit more difficult than what is found in the basic piano course book but this is still a fun book of good arrangements to play and lyrics are even included so you can sing along. The following are the selection of pieces in the book and their origin: "There's No Business Like Show Business" (ANNIE GET YOUR GUN) "My Heart Will Go On" (TITANTIC) "Que Sera, Sera" (THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH) "Beauty and the Beast" (Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) "Seventy Six Trombones" (THE MUSIC MAN) "Yesterday" (hit song some The Beatles) "Think of Me" (Andrew Lloyd Weber's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) "This is the Moment" (musical stage play JEYLL & HYDE) "The Way We Were" (motion picture THE WAY WE WERE) "Oh Pretty Woman" (Ray Orbison hit) "My Guy" (Smokey Robinson hit) "People" (FUNNY GIRL) "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" (Disney's LION KING) "God Help The Outcasts" (Disney's HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME) "ONE" (A CHORUS LINE)

... other songs in 'Greatest Hits' book #1 which sounded good, when I learned them in 'Greatest Hits' book ...
Having learned "Beauty and the Beast" and "My Heart Will Go On" along with other songs in 'Greatest Hits' book #1 which sounded good, when I learned them in 'Greatest Hits' book #2 at the intermediate level, they sound so much better even though the songs are bit more challenging to learn because of more notes being played and hand movements. But it's worth it! As my wife told me "the songs sound more mature and fluid".,

A little off?
Honestly was kind of expecting more? I have volume 1 and like it! But for some reason, this one just didn’t sound that great? Something is just off with it.

Excellent book for intermediate learners
This is a great book. I have been learning to play the piano as an adult (off and on) for about 2 years. This is a wonderful book with interesting songs that progressively get more difficult.

Enjoyable alternative to my regular lesson book
I'm maybe 20% of the way through the Bastien adult book 2, and recently started playing the songs in this book. I find them overall on the same level or a little easier than the Bastien songs. They have very good flow and are great for sight-reading. It's much more fun than my lesson book for the most part, and i love playing songs that I can actually sing with (haltingly as I play...ha ha).

My adult students really enjoy most every one of the songs in this book
My adult students really enjoy most every one of the songs in this book. Why, I even like to sit down and play them. I have all the books of his Greatest Hits and I like the arrangements. I find it fills in with just the right amount to help the student to sound good and yet, I can take it, add more notes and make lovely music by doing so. Teachers, you simply cannot go wrong if you use the method Alfred had put together. Your students will be well-rounded and they get to play songs everyone enjoys.

It is Alfred's so no need to say more
I've been using his books and fully recommend them. Once you have the basic piano course and are exposed to the various music pieces, then you will need something to practice and learn more. Although most music are available on the internet, it will take you ages to find the right one in the right difficulty level to be able to play. Alfred's books take this hassle away and are well organised in their difficulty level enabling you to learn and play different pieces as you progress through your course.Well recommended.

A Great Compilation
I just find this selection of music so enjoyable, and most importantly accessible for my poor piano playing. In many compilations there tend to be much stuff that I haven't liked, or wanted to play, but for me this fits the bill admirably. The printing is lovely and clear, as often with other publications I strain to read the music as my sight reading is very poor. 10 out of 10 I feel. There is nothing nicer than feeling you can play a piece of music that has been transposed so well for the adult beginner.
