What a great gate!
We spend most of our time in our kitchen/great room and so our dog has a bed in the kitchen. The backyard leads directly into this area. My dog is jumpy and when people come over, he has to be put into the pantry for about 10 minutes, until he gets used to the commotion. It is a walk-in, roomy and bright and has a bed in it but it made me sad that he had to be put away like that. I was considering getting a dutch door but a friend suggesting getting a gate, instead. It was THE BEST idea! I love this gate. My dog is 60 lbs and I was afraid it would get knocked down or he would jump over it but this gate is high enough that he will not. The cute design keeps the space open. He loves it, too, and now considers the pantry his own little dog house. The gate door can be left open, which is important, so that he can come and go as he pleases. The use of this gate has helped him calm down faster because he is still part of the what is happening. Like other reviewers, I thought it was warped when I first got it but it was not. It is designed this way to give more tension. It is very sturdy. It's also easy to use. With one hand, just push the lock and pull the door slightly to open. Very, very happy with this gate.

Looks great, works well
This is our first gate and I was hesitant to get one because they seem like a pain (to install, to have to walk through, to maintain sturdiness) but it's been great! Super easy to install (the extra pieces that come with it really help with flexibility in width) and good quality (not tacky plastic). We have it installed at the entry to our bedroom and laundry room so our dogs can't get to the cat food in there and I like that it matches the curvature of the arch.. looks like it's meant to be there. It's a little tough to open (have to slide the lock and lift the handle at the same time) but I think that's done intentionally for safety in case you want to keep kids behind it. You get the hang of it pretty quickly. The swing close behind you feature is also helpful (though I was unsure at first) because I'll often open and then forget to shut it behind me. Keeps us secure!

People need to read the instructions..
Soooo many reviews said that theirs arrived faulty or this gate was broken. I was almost worried to order it, but I'm glad I listened to the people that simply said "just follow the instructions" because really... that's all you need to do. There's even a big note saying that the gate isn't perfectly square until installation.Installation: My boyfriend and I put it up together and we were not in any kind of rush.. it probably took us just a little over half an hour to install it. It was very simple and not hard to do at all. I purchased separate wall protectors so I didn't use the ones that came with it. But the sticky things that came with it worked nicely for us. It comes with a stopper attached to it which only allows it to open in one direction. We took ours off so it can open both ways. That was also a very easy and simple task to do.Looks: This gate looks very nice in between our living room and kitchen. I like the dark brown color of it and the design on the door. Like other reviews said, the decorative part which is the door of the gate is just some kind of plastic material. It's not necessarily flimsy, but it isn't as solid as the other parts of the gate. Unless you plan on getting angry and trying to kick the gate open if you can't figure out the latch.. then it shouldn't be any type of issue. Unless you're using it for pets and you're afraid they might chew on it.User Friendliness: I don't think this gate is too hard to open. My boyfriend doesn't struggle with it.. he just wishes it was just a little easier than it is. You slide something on the top and then lift. It's not "heavy" but you do have to actually try. We will be having a new baby here in a few weeks and I'm not worried about trying to open it with one hand while holding my newborn in the other.I LOVE that this gate can stay open though if you want it to. We will probably have it open most of the time while we're home so even if it was hard to open, I wouldn't be too upset about it. The main reason I bought this was because I'm attaching a sign to it that requests all guests take their shoes off. I have this mounted to the walls between the kitchen area and our living room, and when I know people are coming over, I will have the gate closed so they have to look at the sign and take their shoes off in the room with hard floors rather than bringing their dirty shoes onto our carpet.

Almost Perfect!
I ordered this gate because it has a door block on it that allows the door to only swing open one way. I think the gate is very nice looking bronze. The bars are metal. The decorative material on the door is hard plastic but still visually pleasing to me. I use this gate as a barrier to keep my dogs out of the kitchen. It works perfectly. The only con that I have about this gate is once the door block breaks the door can swing open both ways. I suggest if you buy this gate to make sure you close rather then letting it automatically swing closed. It does not softly close. It will swing closed and hit the door stop and it closes pretty fast. One day I walked through and kept going. The door automatically swung closed hitting the plaatic door stopper and the plastice stopper broke. 😵 I will buy another one and I will make sure not to let it automatically close so the door stopper will last longer. This door stop is why I purchased this gate. For dogs and babies who learn how to open and push forward, the door stop won't allow the door to swing forward/into the kitchen at my house. I've had this gate for a year. When I called to order a replacement door stopper, I was informed that they don't have replacement parts and the manufacturer warrenty is only 30 days. It would be perfect if it had a metal door stopper with a rubber pad to absorb the shock of the door hitting the stopper when it automatically swings closed.
