Really blown away by this board at this price point!BOARD: Great weight, the wood looks good and had no blemishes. There's a few grainy spots but for me that adds character and I like if. Etching is great, adds depth. This is a large board, so if you have something like a side table only to play games on you may need to channel the Go ancestors and play on the floor.BOWLS: Listen I am biased here- I love awesome little containers. Bowls are perfectly smooth, feel like artisan crafted and not factory made. Binders are nice but do take a little getting used to, I was terrified of spilling all my stones while trying to put them on at first lol.STONES: Stones are good and appropriate for the price point. No blemishes, I really enjoy the double convex. They don't have much weight to them, which I am not huge on (however, I'm not expecting the world for $100), but if you would like lighter stones these will be great for you.CARRYING CASES: I actually love these more than I thought I would! Great for taking your board on the GO *wink* so that you can find new friends to play with. They also are great storage to protect the product, and look great. Two notes: board is heavy, not prohibitively so, but don't think you'll be tucking it under your arm nice and easy. Other is the carrying case for the board is felt and my cat is very interested, so I'd keep out of reach of pets while storing.OVERALL: I truly feel this is the best value board for quality for someone starting out with Go. It's worth every penny. This makes for a great home board, and can travel well for game nights. I wouldn't bring it to the office or on a trip (unless your suitcase is huge) just due to the size and weight. I highly recommend this board and will purchase again if anything happens to mine!

This is a quality bamboo board with engraved lines that will last a long time. The 13x13 board on the reverse side is great for shorter games. The stones are double convex melamine resin, which means they are durable and feel good to play with. Melamine stones are lighter than glass or ceramic ones, but much cheaper.The wood (bamboo?) stone bowls are well-made and match the board. The set includes a small duffel for the stone bowls, and a snug felt case for the board.This is probably the best value for money in Go boards, period. The set is appealing and comfortable. The stones are cheap but perfectly functional. I am happy with the stones, but you could easily upgrade to more expensive stones later and continue to use the board and bowls. Even if you are only interested in the board and bowls, this set remains a pretty good value.

this set is beautiful well crafted and should last a lifetime i would highly recommend this set and the instruction book written by karl baker that came with it was excellent and better than the book i bought and didn’t need.

very nice quality and fun to play - two sides of the board allow for both tournament play and a smaller game area for practicing. the wooden bowls provided to store the game pieces have velcro straps to keep from spilling - worth the $s

This is an INCREDIBLE go set. I haven’t included pictures in this review because what you see above was 100% what I received. Also, the packing it came it was the best I’ve ever seen in an Amazon order. It was all high density foam with specific cutouts for every piece.The board looks awesome. The bowls look awesome. The carry bag for the bowls and the felt sleeve for the board are quality.I cannot recommend this product enough.

Now I have to learn how to play. I havent used it yet, so no feedback there.

This is my second goban from Yellow Mountain Imports and it is AMAZING! The etching was perfect, the bamboo was sealed super evenly, and the stones felt wonderful to hold and place. Everything down to the board cover and carry case for the stones was HIGH quality. I already want to buy another goban for a different application from these people. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

I cannot rate the entertainment value of this game as it was a gift for my son. The packaging and quality of the materials however, was outstanding! Not really a good fit for travelling though.
